Internet Use in Children

The Internet, which is one of the most important means of communication today, and the computer, tablet, phone, which enters our lives accordingly, exists in every aspect of our life. It is possible to use it in every field from obtaining information to communication, from the field of education to having a pleasant time. Of course, when we have entered so much into the lives of adults, it is impossible not to enter the lives of children. But what matters is how often and for what purpose these communication tools are used.
The use of the Internet, of which we are not sure about the frequency and purposes of use, brings with it many problems.

Restriction of the social and emotional development skills they will gain through play,
Decrease in mobility opportunities and slowing of psychomotor development with technology addiction,
Acquisition of aggressive attitudes and behaviors,
these are just some of the disadvantages that the Internet brings with it.

So what can we do to make our child aware of the use of technology and protect against possible dangers?

First of all, it should be known that there is no such thing as a complete ban on the use of the Internet. This will cause negative emotions and behaviors in your child, as well as ignoring the benefits of the Internet. Therefore, what needs to be done is to allow use within a certain time December without overdoing it.
Talk to your children about the Internet and the information they have acquired through the Internet. Tell them that everything they see or write in this medium is not true. It is best to speak calmly about this, not to criticize or prohibit the use.
Put the computer in the common area of the house. This will make it easier for you to keep track of the computer’s usage time and for what purpose it is being used.
Find alternative activities for your children. By giving trips, social events or different responsibilities, make him get away from the computer and realize that there are more enjoyable activities.
Explain and show your children what to do when they encounter a situation on the Internet that they won’t like. In this way, you will help him maintain his own control over the Internet and teach him to feel safe.
